What's your business, and who are your customers?
Allermi is a direct-to-patient telehealth service to provide customized multi-ingredient nasal sprays for the relief of allergy symptoms. Unlike typical allergy treatments, Allermi nasal sprays contain multiple active ingredients customized for each patient's symptoms and severity.
Our customers are allergy sufferers, most of whom are chronic and severe, experiencing daily symptoms.
Tell us about yourself
I am a lifelong allergy sufferer and the daughter of an allergist. If I don't use our nasal spray daily, I suffer. I know that there are tens of millions of other Americans just like me who need daily relief that is safe and effective. That keeps me going, to know that we are really positively impacting the health of those who suffer daily.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Growing a team of best-in-class professionals who are all oriented towards the same mission! Also, raising a round of venture capital as a minority woman under 30 feels like a big win.
I think the biggest feeling of accomplishment comes when a patient is extremely satisfied with our product and can finally breathe/sleep/feel well, often after years or even decades of suffering.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Wanting things to move faster than they do, being patient. Especially in a highly-regulated business, growth and expansion take time.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Share your idea with everyone, get as much feedback as possible, and never hold an idea hostage - value lies in execution, not ideas!
- There's a ceiling on DIY - at a certain point, you'll need to find experts to help you build and accomplish. The sooner you can do this, the better.
- Be judicious around who you bring onto your team. They become like your spouse! You spend more time with them than anyone. Choose wisely.
