Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Scott Bertrand, Original Inventor and Chief Research Officer of AllCore360º, located in Atlanta, GA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Weight loss and six-pack abs are side effects of our AllCore360º trunk therapy training. Originally designed to assist those in the spinal cord and brain injury space, its performance enhancement results could not be overlooked. Near miraculous improvements in the disability, space has allowed us to be a featured treatment in some of the most advanced treatment centers in the United States. Amazing progress in post-stroke recovery has been documented by the Kessler Foundation, considered by many to be the premier spinal cord and traumatic brain injury research facility in the world. When our paraplegic patients started sporting six-packs and hitting their golf balls a full 30 yards longer, we were catapulted into the elite athletic training world. Everyone needs an optimum core. We deliver optimization whether you're confined to a wheelchair and in physical therapy or training for the 100-meter sprint on an Olympic track. The only people who don't need us are those without skin; the only people who cannot take advantage of our optimization are those who cannot sit. We address a broad spectrum of the world.
Tell us about yourself
After personally suffering a vertebral fracture while in the 101st Airborne, I was prescribed physical therapy, the therapy felt wrong, all wrong, and horribly painful, but I was young and didn't know any better. I quit therapy. Upon leaving the service, I chose to become a chiropractor as naturally, I was forced to learn about the spine, my spine to be precise. As fate would have it, as a senior preparing to graduate from chiropractic school, I had a second vertebral fracture. This time is diving into a swimming pool and striking someone attempting to swim under my dive. No, I don't skydive or high dive anymore. Again, thrown into therapy with the hopes the medical field had improved on my military therapy. But alas, no such luck, same approach, same feeling it was wrong, same pain, same I quit this stuff knowing there had to be a better way. Now, far more knowledgeable than before, I knew what everyone had been doing wrong. Simply put, they were taking a tube of muscle that had 360 degrees of potentiality and challenging at most 3 or 4 degrees. In retrospect...absurd. They were also taking an almost purely isometric muscular tube and challenging it isotonically; again, how absurd. Not that doing it correctly would prove to be easy; it wasn't. After months of thought, mountains of drawings, and a house full of books, the design arrives in the middle of the night in a dream. Yep, just like all those stories, it came near perfect in the dream. I'm sure after seeing the results; we are seeing that this resolution to the problem came from God. He has not allowed it to fail. He gave me this mission; I don't own it; I just have the wonderful fortune to drive it. Some people have dreams; they differ from missions. Missions wake you up in the morning and beat you like a racehorse until you fulfill your destiny. That's really how it works.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
When I started seeing those confined to wheelchairs glow with renewed hope. When I saw a cerebral palsy little girl sit up straight for the first time in her life when I saw a Mom in tears as she saw her baby finally sit up. The list goes on and on, if you walk with me, bring tissue; God is blessing these folks right in front of our eyes.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
When you have something that everyone needs, how do you choose who gets to take advantage of it. When you can change the world, how can you stand it taking another week? People needed this yesterday; it is my hardest reality; I'm not big enough yet, and I'm not moving fast enough to reach them all.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Believe in yourself; first and foremost, don't underestimate your gifts.
- You are here for a reason, and that reason is glorious.
- Keep negative people at arm's length and with a muzzle on, or move away from them; they are POISON.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
It took me 30 years of being beaten by that stick to arrive here. It's not easy, but persistence, without exception, will never fail you. Don't be the critic; get your ass in the arena.
