Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jackie Ruger, Founder of All Animal Healing, located in Parkville, MO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is mainly Applied Zoopharmacognosy. My customers are animals of all breeds and species. Zoopharmacognosy is not a new therapy; in fact, it's the oldest therapy in existence. Applied Zoopharmacognosy allows animals to use their innate ability to select remedies they need and guide their dosage. This innate knowing is key to their healing. Once the animal has selected its remedy, it will guide the treatment by inhaling it, taking it orally, or by rubbing a part of its body onto it. The Applied Zoopharmacognosy practitioner will use the highest quality plant compounds and extracts to achieve the best results with the animal.

Tell us about yourself

I passionately believe all animals have a voice, and all we must do is listen, and as such, I began my journey to become a healer. In 2010, I traveled to the United Kingdom to complete an all-species Animal Healing course. Shortly after, my path crossed with Caroline Ingraham, founder of Applied Zoopharmacognosy. In 2013, this inspired me to complete my studies in Applied Zoopharmacognosy (all species) at Ingraham Academy of Zoopharmacognosy. I then went on to open All Animal Healing, a small business that catered to animals. Services include Applied Zoopharmacognosy, Animal Healing, Reiki, Light Therapy, and Animal and Guardian Healing.

During this time, a good friend, Neil Cooper, suggested I try Reiki. I completed my Usui Master Reiki training with Reiki Master Teacher, Sarah Tilsley in the United Kingdom in 2020. I have since trained and qualified as an Usui Shiki Ryoho Master Teacher and am a qualified Karuna Ki Reiki Master Teacher as of 2022. I'm currently pursuing other Complementary Healing Therapies. I now reside in Missouri with my husband, daughter, cat, and two dogs.

What motivates me is listening and watching what an animal needs and the ability to help an animal heal. There is so much glory in seeing an animal who has selected what it needs to help itself heal.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is getting to do what I love each and every day.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Learning to trust in yourself - the animal does the rest.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Believe in yourself and don't give up.
  2. Have a plan.
  3. It gets easier; just trust the process.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

To start your own business, you don't need all the answers; as long as you are doing what you love, the rest will follow. Trust yourself.
