What's your business, and who are your customers?
I'm a Professional Ballroom Dancer. So I teach and coach people how to dance and navigate the Ballroom Dance Industry. I travel a lot between many of the world's major metro areas to train and teach. My clients are people who appreciate the art of dance, want to dance for fun, are super serious about improving their dancing, or want to watch a professional show.
Tell us about yourself
I originally had a major injury in high school while doing sports, which made it so I couldn't walk for a few months. So I talked to my doctor about this dance studio I passed, and he mentioned that it would be a great way to cross-train! I really enjoy sharing my passion for dance with others in the world, and I feel that this is what I was born to do!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I've had many students achieve very prestigious results at competitions and events, which I'm really proud of since their growth is a reflection of me as a teacher.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I really don't like doing administration work and dealing with monotonous work. It can also be very stressful since you have to present yourself well all the time because a bad day could taint your image and reputation.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
I would recommend that you find something you're truly passionate about or something you really care about. Once you decide on that, be prepared to dedicate your life to it; being a business owner literally becomes a lifestyle! The last thing is to perceive and not quit. Many people give up too soon when they may be very close to success.
