Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Evalena Rose, Founder of Alchemy of Love, located in Asheville, NC, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I help people open their hearts and embody their soul essence through MetaTherapy, Channeled Readings, and energetic healing. My private practice serves a wide range of people, concentrating on healers, therapists, and awakening seekers. I'm deeply versed in trauma recovery, having needed it myself, and often help Light-workers clear the past to live vibrantly in their intuitive and therapeutic natures. Five decades of offering business guidance have led to a Spiritual Mentorship Program for advanced healing practitioners and entrepreneurs, also often my clients.

Tell us about yourself

Thankfully, my college psychology professor first named my potential to do therapy and seeing how little I could effect change in state and local agencies led me to begin my private practice in 1978. Feeling unprepared, I took every possible workshop and, in 1980, met my Spirit Guides, so it's been a partnership with Spirit from the beginning. When income would falter, I'd work with coaches, affirmations, manifestation practices - anything to keep from working a job! Pretty Aquarian of me!

What motivates me each day is witnessing people's quantum leaps. I gain so much fulfillment having someone find more of themself, gaining confidence and self-esteem, proliferating options, or having released the grief or rage that was holding them back. Daily, someone reports that their life is radically different from our work together, and witnessing the ways Spirit finesses them through deep changes is an education in itself. Every year more seems possible in people as we all evolve. Exciting (if challenging) time to be alive!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Having supported myself for 44 years doing spiritual and metaphysical work, I love, never compromising quality or integrity, having the lifestyle that grows me and maximizes my potential. I keep getting better, and the work advances as I evolve. 50 years of self-growth, coaches, and mentors have evolved my capacity to mentor others in evolving their path of choice. I love my work! So satisfying. I call it my front-row seat on transformation.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Finding and keeping really qualified employees who share a passion for the business. The zillion details that can keep an owner at the computer way too much, easy to let to-do lists derail you energetically. I can't afford that with my style of work as I have to be very "on" with every session.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Take time to visualize what your heart and soul truly want you to do, to offer. You'll invest a lot of life in this endeavor, so make sure it's something worth your energy, money, and time. You'll be supporting it for 1 1/2 or 2 years before it's supporting you.
  2. Hire qualified coaches and mentors - even for an occasional session, or trade your healing skills or products for such sessions. Many have tread these paths before you - take advantage of their wisdom. Classes in prosperity consciousness, visioning rituals, and marketing skills are useful. Study how to improve your craft in the world with wise folks.
  3. Create a work/ life balance from the beginning. Rather than trying to "catch up" (not possible in the digital era), focus on what's the priority, do that first, and build in time for rest, spiritual practices, recreation, and nature. You are the heart of your work, so prioritize what keeps you at optimum functioning.
