Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Alana Belik, Founder of Alana Belik Clinical Hypnotherapy, located in Edmonton, AB, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I train people to be exceptional Hypnotherapists. I am also a Clinical Hypnotherapist practitioner and Coach. My students are often already in some kind of help/healing industry, such as Psychologists, Coaches, Reiki practitioners, etc., and want to level up their services by adding the powerful tool of hypnosis and hypnotherapy. My clients are people who are stuck, and they are also open-minded enough to explore creative ways of reorganizing and fine-tuning their minds.
Tell us about yourself
I began my business in 2006 after many years of gaining traditional, non-traditional, and experiential knowledge. What I do is very much a calling. I feel not only inspired to help others but also compelled. I love what I do.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishments happen daily. Every successful student and client is a huge accomplishment for me.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The thing that is most challenging for me as a business owner is work/life balance.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Find out your conative style and then recruit some help from people with differing conative styles. (check out Kolbe.com)
- Entrepreneurship can feel scary sometimes. Develop a practice to keep you grounded and positive. The energy in which you begin anything will inform the process and the outcome.
- Develop and trust your intuition.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
It is too easy to play the compare and despair game in today's society. As a business owner, I think it is incredibly important to focus on what we are doing and what we do well. I firmly believe in cooperation vs. competitive advantage. It not only feels so much better but has also worked very well for me. All for one and one for all. I also believe in "live it to give it."
