What's your business, and who are your customers?
Alain Website Design is a Montreal-based website design studio with a small but dynamic team of talented web designers and educators. The studio's mission is to help small businesses and individuals bring their online presence to life using WordPress, one of the most popular and user-friendly content management systems in the world.
Tell us about yourself
During COVID, I lost my job as a professional photographer. I decided to get some additional training and learn a new skill that would allow me to earn my living from home. I decided to try website design, and I fell in love with it. Since then, I have been offering my services to friends and family everywhere I go.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is to give my clients the possibility of growing their business from local to global. Every time I build a website for a client, I am giving them the superpower to sell their products/services to anyone in the whole world.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
In the business of website design, the ability to understand the client's ideas is super important. It's not uncommon to fail a couple of times before being able to create when the client envisions it. Many times, I have to tell them that their vision is not the best thing for their business.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Dream big. It costs the same to dream small as to dream small, so why would anyone dream small?
- Never stop learning. In order to help your business grow and to give the best possible product/service to your clients, you have to keep on learning.
- Clear communication is key to proper understanding. Don't be shy to ask more than once for clear instructions.
