Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in marketing services but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Nichole Howson, CEO of AIM Social Media Marketing, located in Essex, ON, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
AIM Social is a social media marketing and virtual assistance agency. We work with social media managers to support them with their client work as well as their own social media needs. We also work with coaches, mental health-related industries, or medium to large-sized businesses that need to be more visible online.
Tell us about yourself
I have been in business since 2014; I started my business at my lowest mental health state because I needed a job that I could do from home. I went to school for marketing, and by the time I graduated, I had enough of a client base to keep her business going instead of getting a job at an agency somewhere else! I work hard on my business so I can live my best life with freedom!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner was hitting my first $20k month during the global pandemic.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things about being a business owner is knowing that everything can change in a blink of an eye, and you have to be prepared for the good and bad to happen constantly.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
If you're looking to start and grow a business today, three things I recommend you do are...
- Get all your systems and automation set up so you can save time going forward.
- Spend 30 minutes to an hour EVERY SINGLE DAY networking online… Build out your connections, provide value in Facebook groups, and start conversations 100% around value - no slimy pitches.
- Invest in three things… A coach, a therapist, and a series of business, leadership, and self-development books!
