Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Erin Vandermore, Founder of Age of Uncertainty Coaching, located in Asheville, NC, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My Coaching course will empower you to transform your relationship with food and recognize and validate your emotions instead of avoiding or numbing them. I know the pain of wanting to look and feel better about myself. I want you to feel good in your body again so that you enjoy time with your family and friends. This Coaching program will allow you to spend less time on calories in and out and more time enjoying yourself.

My Coaching program using my six signature steps, will take you from your limiting beliefs to feeling powerful and in control of your eating patterns. To provide my clients the ability to no longer use food to avoid/numb from emotions. To provide my clients with the keys to transformation and stop self-sabotaging themselves.

My clients are generally women 25-55 years of age who enjoy reading, podcasts, knitting or crocheting, enjoy books by Brene Brown, Glennon Doyle, the badass book series or big leap by Gay Hendricks, have tried multiple diet plans, and have failed, goes on Pinterest or Facebook. She struggled with weight, had low self-esteem, overwhelmed mom trying to make it all work, and tired of the rat race, who no longer wants food to have such power and control over our lives; no longer wants food to take up so much space in our brains.

Tell us about yourself

I've been in the mental health field for over ten years now, helping my clients navigate their lives. I have recently pivoted my private practice to include online coaching courses for those wanting to make a long last change but do not want the weekly therapy sessions. I enjoy being able to help others live their best lives and increase their overall happiness.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Running a successful practice for the past ten years and now recently creating a second company to provide online health and wellness courses.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Being a marketer. It can be difficult promoting your own services.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be authentic - what is it that you excel at and can support others in?
  2. Be honest - what are the areas that you need support in? We are not experts in everything. Find those who can help you as you work towards your dreams.
  3. Be patient - it takes time to build up your name and reputation, but it is worth it.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I offer a free grounding course. In this course, we will discuss healthy grounding techniques that you can use to cope with stressful situations in your everyday life. This is extremely beneficial to people who are dealing with unwanted memories, negative thoughts, or trauma to create a safe space where they feel more in control of their emotions. The top three techniques I will discuss in this course use our senses - sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch to ground ourselves in the present moment.
