What's your business, and who are your customers?
Affari Miei is an independent consulting firm; our customers are private investors interested in improving their financial knowledge and investments.
Tell us about yourself
We started our business in 2014 when we created the blog. At first, we only wanted to share information about our passion for personal finance. We decided to improve our support to users year by year, and we started to sell our services based on reader’s issues.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
We think our evolution, in general, is a success story because we create the business starting from the blog. Companies usually use digital instruments to attract customers; we became a business starting from our relationship with users.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Now the world runs fast; you have to be updated every day. You can’t wait long to test new ideas; your position will not generate revenue for so long.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
The first tip is to develop skills in different areas - as a business owner, you can’t be focused on one or two things, but you have to be open-minded.
The second tip is: to listen to the other but take control of your life. Working as a business owner is a very special trip, but, at the same time, a lot of people will give advice or ideas to you even if you are not asking for them. You should balance what the other says with your goals and experience because, in the end, you have to decide which is the crucial point of this life.
Last but not least: do what is compliant with your values. Entrepreneurs usually start their businesses following a passion or an idea. During the trip, you sometimes have to make decisions that cannot comply with your view. When you have doubts, ask yourself if you still agree with your values and remember why you started.
