What's your business, and who are your customers?
Aéthereal Candle is a small luxury candle business based in Toronto, Canada. Each of our products is carefully hand-poured and is made with only high-quality, plant-based ingredients that are environmentally friendly and non-toxic. Safe for your home, family, and pets! Our goal is to have a strong appreciation for quality and simplicity through the design of our product. They make beautiful gifts for friends, families, and loved ones of all ages and genders.
Tell us about yourself
I am a big bath person who loves setting the mood with candles. Even just watching TV, I love lighting up a candle. I thought to myself, why not make my own? And so, that’s how my candle-making journey began. I made these as Christmas gifts for a couple of my friends last year, and they absolutely loved it! I got great feedback on them, and this is what motivated me to create Aéthereal Candle.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner was doing my very first pop-up market downtown! Oh man, I was so nervous and had no idea what I was doing. The fear of screwing up was so deep into my veins I almost wanted to back out. But I am so happy that I took that leap of faith because the event went better than expected. There were so many valuable lessons that were learned along the way, and it’s definitely something you need to experience.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things I’d say is to be consistent with creating social media content. There are days when you just want to chill out, and then when you chill out… you get lazy. I think it’s also because you’re doing everything on your own, so it gets exhausting. But that’s why as a business owner, you need to find that middle ground – that balance to keep yourself on track.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be passionate and create things you love because it will show.
- Be consistent and never give up.
- Just do it, even if it isn’t perfect! Everything will come together.
