Tell us about yourself

I'm Your Business Growth Buddy. I first got started working on my business because I knew nobody else could do what I did. I can easily understand my customers' businesses more than they do from the perspectives of advertising, brand building, and go-to-market. And deliver what they truly need.

Why?

For 15 years before I spun up Aero Wong LLC, I made career transitions multiple times by reinventing myself completely again and again. From finance to event organizing, to digital marketing, to technology, I ended up working in the product management field.

I'm a programmer who speaks marketing languages.
I'm a digital marketer who speaks programming languages.
I'm a content manager who speaks product management.
I'm a product manager who is at the Intersection of Design, Technology, and Business. The great companies I used to work with, to just name a few: South China Morning Post, Guru Online, 100PM, Lalamove, Gravity Supply Chain, etc. I had achievements made in radically different professions within companies of all sizes: unicorn, listed company, startup, and even a chamber of commerce.

So you can tell my motivation from my passionate work is not about money. It's all about GROWTH. Both my personal growth and my client's business growth. I don't care what industry you're in, I don't care what business you're in, and I'll just do whatever it takes to help you GROW.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Staying lean is the biggest accomplishment and also the ultimate edge of my business. We're operating with a listed company on a global scale, but we still don't yet have any employees. I work all the time remotely with a distributed team that composes of global partnerships.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The extreme ownership you have to take on. You have the freedom to do whatever you want with the business because you own every single thing. You own both success and failure. You're the only one to blame if anything goes sideways.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

To start, think twice about what entrepreneurship means to you. A business has to be profitable to make business sense, but money cannot be the primary reason you want to start a business. Personal growth and making contributions to society have to come first. The benefit of thinking about personal and societal growth is two-fold you will have a more meaningful business (or even more profitable business) by focusing on growth, and more importantly, you can only endure the hardship that will surely come along with entrepreneurship. You have to know there is nothing glamour about being an entrepreneur. It's all about hard work and dedication.

To run and grow, always remember that complexity is the enemy of execution. Running a business is all about the operation; the simpler the operation procedure, the easier for you to run the business. "Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away," Antoine de Saint-Exupery's quote nails it best.
