What's your business and who are your customers?

President and CEO, Intelligent Bioenergetics, Inc. Founder and President, Thorp Institute of Integrated Medicine, Inc. In November of 2012, Intelligent Bioenergetics, Inc., was established by John Thorp to sell and distribute advanced intelligent bioenergetics devices internationally.

John is also the Founder and President of Thorp Institute of Integrated Medicine ("TI"), a medical management company established in 1995 and leading authority on microcurrent technologies. With thirty plus years of experience in the field of bioenergetics, he administered and taught proprietary clinically proven electrotherapy protocols to clients and practitioners worldwide.

John is also the Founder, President, and CEO of Thorp Institute (established in 1995) and one of the foremost authorities on the Intelligent Micro Current technologies and the Electro Equiscope instrument. Medical and veterinary practitioners worldwide have sought out his superior training.

Tell us about yourself

Throughout the 1970s and into the mid-1980s, John had been a successful Hollywood stuntman on such shows as Hawaii Five-O, The Six Million Dollar Man, Magnum P.I., Jake and the Fat Man, and a host of others. In 1986, he shattered his tibia, fibula, and femur in a stunt accident and was told by doctors that without a total knee replacement he would be crippled for life.

A procedure of this kind would have meant an end to his career and the lifestyle he loved and worked so hard to achieve. Fortunately, actor Lee Majors recommended that John try a new highly regarded therapy that had been thrust into the limelight by professional athletes such as Terry Bradshaw, Joe Montana, and golfing great Jack Nicklaus.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The Balance Body center attracted news media coverage from all the local News stations including ABC, NBC, and CBS affiliates. In 1995 he Expanded to California where he opened, the Thorp Institute of Integrative Medicine at the Westwood Medical Center in Westwood California, and in 2005 opened the Thorp Institute of Integrated Medicine in Encinitas, California.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Know your product like no one else does.

If there was one thing you could do repeatedly to help grow your business, what would it be?

Support your current customers with aftercare support. That support will drive others to you since no one wants to be left in the cold after purchasing a $40,000 device. It is that after-care support that will continue to drive your business.

What are some of the things you put in place to maintain a healthy work/life balance?

You must schedule your time accordingly. Exercising and the proper diet will allow the balance required physically and a good spiritual foundation will keep your inner core grounded and ready to take on the world.
