What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is Adorned Gift Co. We provide curated gift solutions for business professionals, busy brides, sales executives, wedding planners, entrepreneurs, and individuals celebrating all of life's special events.
Tell us about yourself
I started Adorned Gift Co after struggling to find a way to celebrate friends and family during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our mission is to create beautiful, top-quality gifts while providing a hassle-free solution for delivering those custom gifts to those who are important to you. I truly enjoy being able to create visually pleasing gifts that not only deliver the product but an unraveling experience from beginning to end. I have the pleasure of helping others build and nurture their relationships, spread joy and gift effortlessly – all while doing what I love. I'm forever grateful for the opportunity to do this every single day!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment circles back to our clients and how supportive they have been with this gifting concept in our region. I started Adorned as a "side business" while working my 8-5 job. Fast forward 9 short months, and little did I know, the overwhelming support from our community would result in me leaving my job of 10+ years to run Adorned full time. I haven't looked back since.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is overcoming the fear that comes with taking risks.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
First and foremost, if you are waiting for the 'right time to start, there will never be one. You must START. Most business owners begin and learn along the way. Speaking for myself here, I am still learning each and every day! There are an endless number of resources out there to help along the way. Utilize them.
The second would be just that, learn. You are never too old to learn something new. Strive to be the best version of yourself and the expert at your trade.
Lastly, delegate. Many small business owners try to do it all. We must remember we are only one person, and ONE PERSON can only do so much. Identify your strengths and focus on those. Hire out or delegate the tasks of which you are not the greatest or don't enjoy. This will prevent burnout and lead to a more productive and efficient operation.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Starting a business takes lots of time and lots of money and is never easy. There will be good days and bad. Remember to pause and enjoy the good days. Push through the hard days with everything you've got. Don't give up because there IS a reward on the other side of your commitment and perseverance.
