Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and nutrition but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Alexa D’Orazio, Owner of AD The RD Nutrition & Yoga, located in Los Angeles, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I help individuals wade through nutrition and health claims, whether that’s general information or one-on-one sessions, to find a path to nutritional wellness that works for their life and goals.

Tell us about yourself

I first started my business because I saw how many half-truths and misleading nutrition facts and/or information there were online. Then, in my 9-5 job, I would talk through these things with clients and realize it’s a much bigger problem that needs to be addressed.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

For me, it’s a personal accomplishment that was triggered by being a business owner. I became more confident in my field, more willing to share my knowledge, and, in general, more outgoing.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Time management! I want to spend all day with a client fine-tuning their nutritional wellness. But, I also have other responsibilities that need tending.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Just start. Don’t wait until everything is perfectly in place.
  2. Give yourself grace, and try different things to see what works for YOU as a business owner with a life outside of work.
  3. Have fun :)
