Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Eva Larson, Founder & CEO of Acupuncture Hive, located in San Francisco, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm the owner and practitioner at Acupuncture Hive, where I treat acute and chronic pain, digestive issues, and symptoms of peri/menopause. My patients are educators, medical practitioners, parents, tech workers, and almost everyone in between.

Tell us about yourself

I got into acupuncture in my early 20s after long suffering from eczema and finally found relief with Chinese medicine. I feel incredibly lucky to have a career where I get to help and support fellow community members and foster long-lasting relationships with them and their friends and family.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Surviving the ups and downs over the years as a one-woman operation, including a global pandemic. Every time someone trusts me and refers a loved one is also a huge accomplishment and brings me so much joy.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Wearing all the hats: CEO, practitioner, marketing manager, administrator, tech support, etc. I have had to become decently good at many things that I otherwise would never have learned.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Take a business course (or two!).
  2. Hire out things you aren't good at or dread doing.
  3. Get support where needed, i.e., coaching, marketing, accounting, admin, etc.
