What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is Coaching, Team Development, and Leadership Training. My customers are generally Business Owners with an appetite for the growth and to develop their businesses. They may also be C Suite Executives looking to build their senior management teams.
Tell us about yourself
My coaching business is two years old, but I ran a Marketing Agency for nearly 20 years before that. I had a previous sizeable corporate career in Marketing Management. I had always wanted to run my own business and make decisions independently. Having run a medium-sized agency, I started coaching to help and share my experience with other regional companies. That desire to help others gets me out of bed each day.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is giving my family life and bringing up my children in the way I want. Business ownership allows you the freedom to do that in the best way possible.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The buck stops with you. Your good and bad decisions will affect you, your business, and your employees. Some of those decisions can be difficult, and you may only sometimes be able to apply logic and objectivity to make them.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Make sure it is your passion and that you want it to succeed enough that you will overcome all the hurdles that will get put in your way.
- Be prepared to do all the jobs you have to, especially the ones you don't like, to understand precisely how they should be done before you delegate or systemize them.
- Find a Mentor, Coach, or Trusted Friend with experience you can learn from and talk to about everything. Make sure you meet with them regularly and be accountable for your actions.
