Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Donna Pacheco, owner of Achadinha Cheese Company, located in Petaluma, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a small 4th generation family farm milking cows and goats to make our farmstead cheeses. We feed our girls a more digestible feed so we can digest the milk they are producing. We do close to 50 Farmer's markets weekly and give farm tours on Saturdays.

Tell us about yourself

What motivates up daily is our family and roots we are proud of and have worked for. It helps that it is absolutely beautiful here in Sonoma County.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I think we are most proud of the fact that we are still in business in a tough agricultural industry with the assistance of our children.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the most difficult things that come with being a business owner is getting old! I call it big bull and little bulls. The new generation struggles with the ideas of the old generation. If we don't keep working and changing with the times, we will fail.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

It takes education, hard work, and no matter what it is, timing can be everything!

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

We believe it is important to know where our food is coming from and how the girls are being treated. Ask questions to tour the source.
