What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a sports marketing agent, and my clients are pro athletes and companies that use sports as part of their marketing or merchandise licensing.

Tell us about yourself

I did not know that being a sports agent was a job when I was a kid, but if I had, I would have known that it was for me. I am custom-made to represent the talent, and what really drives me is innovation and creating ROI.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

It is hard to say what is my biggest impact, but the greatest commercial success was Million Dollar Arm - The Movie, The Book, The public speaking.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Realizing that what is best for the business is not always what is best for a single employee.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Capital - it is all about runway - everything will take TWICE as long and cost TWICE as much as you plan.
  2. Is it a good idea or a good business - not every good idea will become a good business at scale.
  3. You can take a while to succeed, but if you are going to fail, do it fast!

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

An entrepreneur's greatest gift is their ability to see NO as the beginning of a negotiation, not the end.
