Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Tracy Vieira, of Academy Chiropractic Centre, located in Winnipeg, MB, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am part of a team of two badass women chiropractors with over 25 years of combined experience in chiropractic... both mothers, both partners, and both awesome. We love having a busy practice filled with kids and little ones running around everywhere. Showing busy mothers self-care and how to love themselves and their families through health is one of our main focuses.

Tell us about yourself

I am a fierce woman with a determined sense of responsibility to help as many pregnant women, babies, children, adolescents, and adults get as healthy as possible. Why? Because I want to see the next generation living life to their fullest potential and joy and truly taking care of themselves.

My favorite thing to do is be with my amazing family...I don't care what we do. Could be sitting by a pool, cooking, and even cleaning with them together is my favorite place to be. Fun story, I hate camping, but my children love it. So because I love them, I camp. And drink wine while they sleep under the stars...sometimes it's tequila.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Purchasing our very own chiropractic clinic and running it to best serve our ideal patients. I have developed an expertise in listening...listening to patients, their families, their needs, wants, and how to fit chiropractic into their busy lives. We go out of our way to make our patients feel comfortable and loved.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Well, after having only been doing this for a few months, I have to say that the hardest thing about being a business owner is the regret of not doing it sooner. I should have jumped a long time ago...LOL.

Also, having the strength and self-awareness to understand my own limitations and be ok with them. Knowing who I can serve and learning how to turn away people who don't fit into our culture is really humbling, especially coming from a background of trying to help everyone. Chiropractic is a fit for 100% of people, but not 100% of people are a fit for our clinic.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Love what you do...love who you serve...love yourself. Everything else will just fall into place.
