Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in eco-friendly cleaning products but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Anu Luthra, founder of Lumehra, located in Toronto, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Our company is Lumehra, we're a plant-based, an eco-friendly company focused on natural cleaning products. Our mission is not only to create safe, non-toxic cleaning products but also to have a positive impact on the environment. Our customers are looking for natural laundry detergents, products that are safe to use and good for the environment. We stand out because of natural ingredients, our ultra-concentrated formulas, and ultimately great cleaning power. As consumers, we all have choices on what we purchase, and at Lumehra we understand that. That's why our packaging is recyclable and having an ultra-concentrated powdered formula ensures we use 80% less water waste, resulting in less transportation and fuel consumption, better for the environment.

Tell us about yourself

I started Lumehra with a goal to create affordable, family-friendly products. Our natural laundry detergents were developed due to my family's need for non-toxic detergents. My daily motivation is based on specific strategic goals, for example, our goal is to grow into more retail locations, so every day I am focused on achieving my objective.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

As a business owner, it's not just about the big wins, rather I focus on the small wins. Small wins lead to bigger wins.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

There are many challenges of being a business owner, the hardest and toughest challenge is your mindset. Having a positive mindset can make a significant difference in achieving your business goals. Every business has its highs and lows, the challenge is not focusing on the lows, rather learning from them.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Research your idea/product (start a business) Dedicate a portion of your day, every day, to sales (run/grow a business) Connect with entrepreneurs (build your support system)

Anything else?

Words of advice that I can offer emerging entrepreneurs is to know your worth. Being an entrepreneur is a very lonely path, you will be tested many times on the path of achieving your goals. If you know your worth (your value, your abilities), you will be able to maneuver obstacles, learn and grow from challenging situations.
