Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and beauty but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jelena Solujic, founder of O3 Ozone Med Spa, located in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

O3 Ozone Med Spa is a modern and relaxing clinic in Richmond Hill, Ontario, with a holistic European approach to health and beauty. We are well known for the variety of Ozone treatments we offer, especially the Ozone Sauna treatment. Clients go home flying after experiencing the Ozone Sauna session. On top of being super relaxing, it hits from the health and beauty aspect so many birds with one stone.

Ozone Sauna is an old-fashioned steam bath where the steam is enriched with Ozone (Ozone is enriched Oxygen). The steam has been there for centuries to soothe and relax the body and mind. The addition of Ozone helps the body detox on the cellular level, energizes, boosts immunity and circulation, relaxes, cleans the skin and the gut, helps with weight loss (in each session client loses up to 600 calories), and so much more.

Our clientele is primarily like-minded holistic customers that are very conscious about their wellness and body upkeep. Some of them use the Ozone treatments as regular body upkeep and for beautifying, while many use it cause it helps relieve symptoms and side effects of some serious health issues like Arthritis, Fibroids, Lime Disease, MS, Parkinson, Cancer, and others.

Tell us about yourself

I find my work very rewarding cause I help clients go home feeling positive, light, happy, and energized. Many years ago, one of my children got ill, and I knocked on many holistic doors to help with healing and directions. It took almost 15 years for my child to recover. But the consistency of the holistic treatments helped us achieve unimaginable results.

The emotional and physical stress of taking care of an unwell child also took a toll on my health. I was in my mid-thirties when I was diagnosed with autoimmune disorders. At forty, I was already going through full menopause. That is how I started looking for different holistic modalities that will give me relief and hopefully bring my immunity and energy levels back to normal.

Ozone Sauna, PEMF mat, Biofeedback treatment, Reiki, Massages...all modalities helped me recover and regenerate the body and mind to full health. I am very passionate about my work, and my vast knowledge is always warmly shared with all of my customers. I work a lot with women, and I understand very well their body and mind needs. My motto is that Purity is my priority. I am dedicated to my clients' highest level of care and service with a calm and relaxing approach.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The fact that I was able to do a new business with an unknown modality on this market work and survive through the pandemic. The reason for that was phenomenal customer service, attention to detail, loyal clients coming back for more, the right focus, and a positive attitude. In the last two years, I was also able to add more services and equipment and bring the company to offer impressive services.

This is fourteen years swimming through the business owner waters. And I feel very comfortable and confident with the direction my business decisions and plans are going right now.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The owner should do the majority of things that have to be done so the earned money can stay on the account. That the family and business life becomes embedded as one if you want to make it work. Nowadays, there is no consistency in work or clients coming or going. There are no more firm working hours. There is no consistency in any financial planning in the first few years. You can't run a successful business part-time, and so much more.

Those are reasons why not everyone is a business owner. But for the right personality, those are all exciting challenges on the path to wonderful future accomplishments.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Have proper financial and family support.
  2. Turn every stone. Do a reality check. Attention to detail.
  3. Work hard. Be consistent. Be patient.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

As an entrepreneur and founding member of the Immigrant Women in Business group, I always underline that everyone should constantly upgrade their skills and invest in themselves. They might not see immediate results, but having tons of skills, experience, and knowledge will build power and confidence in the long run. Confidence brings money.
