What's your background and motivation to grow as a business owner?
As a software engineer, I've always enjoyed creating corporate software solutions. And when I founded Digilite 15 years ago, our aim was and continues to be to provide cutting-edge technology and best practices, the most knowledgeable specialists in the area, unsurpassed customer service, and to constantly deliver on our brand promise of linking customers to success. What drives me is the desire to make a positive difference in our clients' businesses by always pushing the limits of what they can achieve through customised technical design and marketing solutions.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My greatest achievement as a business owner is having established teams and partners in five different countries while maintaining the same culture and values with all team members.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being an entrepreneur?
The most difficult aspect of being a business owner is being able to see past everyday challenges and learn from failures while remaining driven to achieve more.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run or grow a small business today?
- Always make sure you are solving a problem.
- Learn how to manage a team. Develop a trust-based culture with your team so you don’t have to micromanage!
- Never get discouraged if you fail. Learn from your mistakes.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
The world of technology has changed dramatically throughout the course of my career. I’ve witnessed how the iPhone has radically transformed how we communicate with one another. In the last 20 years, I’ve seen the Web 2.0 revolution and a slew of other technological breakthroughs, but the way we stayed relevant as a company was to keep an open mind, adapt to new challenges, and most importantly, listen to customer feedback and keep a finger on the pulse to be ready to learn something new.
