What's your business, and who are your customers?

I, Janice Webber, am the artist who provides unique paintings, photographs, and pottery for your viewing pleasure. I also have started an art academy that focuses on Stress Less and Create More using Tai Chi and art. Many of my customers appreciate art and may also discover that they have more to offer than they knew but do not know how to reduce their stress to get in touch with their creative side. Some of my customers are just looking for ways to reduce stress.

Tell us about yourself

I bring my background in stress reduction from being a physiotherapist and a Tai chi instructor. I have been an artist for years but never took the plunge. I love creating art and doing things to reduce my stress. I discovered during Covid that as my stress level rose, my creativity lessened. I am now just enjoying creating and being less stressed.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I love setting my own hours, working at my peak, being able to plan breaks, and letting the flow of life happen. I have had a physiotherapy business for over 30 years, so I learned lots about running a business. Now it is time to do what I love to do, create art and teach others how to love and live with less stress and more creativity.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

You are the one in charge. Whether or not you decide what to do, when to do it, and look at the results. Sometimes it isn't good. Other times it is great.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Make a clear plan but do your homework. Then take the plunge, review it frequently and adjust it to your customers.
