Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jeffrey Jensen, Co-Founder of 212 Meal Prep, located in Myrtle Beach, SC, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I own a meal prep company, and we serve anyone who is looking to get healthy, stay healthy or add convenience to their life.

Tell us about yourself

When my brother and I started 212 five years ago, it was out of a need in my own life. I was over 350lbs and very out of shape. I wanted a solution to eating healthier, with food that actually tasted good. So out of that need, 212 was created. Over the last few years, I have gone on to lose over 150lbs and help change hundreds of people's lives, and that motivates the crap out of me!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

We've done many things in the last 5 years, including $1 million + in revenue, and opened 60 pickup locations in over 20 cities. Survived a worldwide pandemic. But I'd say the biggest accomplishment is all the lives we have helped change, from weight loss to getting time back with their families; it's truly what keeps us going every day.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Finding balance. I don't actually believe balance exists, but I definitely strive to be the best I can be in all areas of my life. At the end of the day, If you want to be successful at anything, it takes massive sacrifice.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Things will take much longer than you expect.
  2. It will probably cost more money than you anticipated.
  3. If you are true to your word, treat your customers and employees with tremendous respect and give your all to helping solve other people's problems, you will be massively successful. It's just a matter of time.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Customer experience is everything. Truly care about the people you are serving and give them an amazing product or service, and you will win.
At the end of the day, it's all about playing the game, and if you can play for long enough, you'll win. Keep your head up and be here a year from now.
