What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a passionate leadership coach who supports mission/purpose-driven organizations and helps people increase their EQ so they can lead with greater ease, kindness, inspiration, and impact! So many individuals/leaders are feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and disconnected and are looking for sustainable ways to lead from a place of empowerment resulting in greater overall satisfaction, fulfillment, joy, and ease! And the process starts by understanding ourselves first so that we can lead from a place of kindness and compassion. I love connecting with people and learning about their stories, their challenges, and their dreams.
Tell us about yourself
I launched my coaching practice just over a year and a half ago, and it was my life that prompted me to stop and better understand what I wanted to be doing professionally and, just as importantly, why I wanted to do it. My life has been full of change and major life transitions, from coming out in my early 20s to leaving a career I adored in San Francisco to follow my heart to moving and starting over 7x over the past 20 years.
My life has taught me to embrace change and all the uncertainty, stress, beauty, and opportunity it presents. It has been through these major life experiences that coaching chose me and brought me back to a major part of who I am, and was missing, which is a person who deeply cares about humanity and believes that we have a responsibility to create a kinder, more compassionate world. This is what fuels my coaching practice as an entrepreneur and what ignites my soul.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishments are the lives I have touched and the people who have allowed me to be a part of their journey. There is nothing more fulfilling than seeing someone grow and succeed in life. My business includes both 1:1 coaching as well as working with other larger organizations.
My biggest accomplishment has been choosing myself and going after what it is I want, as the feeling is incredible. I get to be a creator, a strategist, a coach, a marketer, and a speaker, and I get to do it in a way that aligns with my values. This creates so much joy, satisfaction, and fulfillment in my life that I get to share with those around me.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Being alone! I worked for over 17 years for larger Fortune 500 brands in e-commerce, marketing, CRM, and consulting, and I loved working with others. There is a unique synergy you experience when working with others that presents a real challenge as a solo entrepreneur. I have found outlets to collaborate with others and highly recommend it to those who are managing their own business.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Trust your intuition - you already have the answers to your questions, so don't rob yourself of your own wisdom by relying on others' opinions.
- Don't get distracted by what everybody else is doing - always come back to your big WHY and align your business planning and activities to this as a way to stay centered.
- JUDGE less - self-judgment is a part of being in business for yourself, yet judging yourself and others just holds you back from making decisions and taking action, which are the two key elements for success. Be open to possibilities!

I will leave you with this one question from Michael Sandel since the current state of affairs in American culture requires us to find common ground, decency, respect, and kindness now more than ever. "What do we owe one another as citizens?"
