Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Hannah Earley, Owner of I Can Therapy, LLC., located in Prairie Village, KS, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We offer holistic and person-centered occupational therapy services to adults and teens with diverse abilities, specializing in employment readiness and independent living skills. I Can Therapy believes that we all are capable of achieving whatever it is we want, and we want to provide you support on your journey. If your goal is to obtain paid employment, be social and engage in community activities of your choice and live as independently as possible, we want to help you achieve those goals! We also provide training and education to employers on how to hire, maintain and support their employees with disabilities.

Tell us about yourself

I have been an occupational therapist since 2017, but I really fell in love with serving this population when my younger brother, Mitchell, was born with Cerebral Palsy and Visual Cortical Impairment. I have been slowly learning more & more and immersing myself in this population/field over the years, which led me to see a gap in services. The research tells us that adults with disabilities are 60% more likely to be unemployed and far more likely to socially isolate, rely on others for self-care, and be unable to live in their homes as independently as their non-disabled peers. I feel as though the general community is becoming more aware of these gaps, and businesses/services are being created to support these individuals. However, it is also obvious that occupational therapy is an under-utilized service that adults/teens with disabilities use for community engagement and employment readiness. I Can Therapy, LLC wants to be a part of filling the gap in unemployment & independent living and utilizing occupational therapy services to do so!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Starting my business on my own and continuing to develop my skills and areas of implementation.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Marketing. I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing when it comes to marketing. I can pitch my business to anyone, but I don't know how to reach people who don't know about I Can Therapy, LLC already!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

I am still learning so much as I go. But my top tip I'd give to anyone who asked would be to do what you love and don't wait!
